Where do you find your buttons? As a 25-year button connoisseur, Donna has amassed quite a collection. Many veryDonna designs incorporate buttons from her private collection. Others are sourced from all over the world, with favorites coming from France and Germany. Donna has formed lovely relationships with dealers and estate buyers around the globe who indulge her passion, and she continues to comb local antique markets and small shops, always looking for a treasure. In her words, “I love the thrill of the find, and the possibilities it creates.”
Will the jewelry I receive have the exact button that I saw online? Yes! The button in your piece of jewelry will be the exact one that you selected when making your purchase. At veryDonna, we NEVER substitute “like” buttons in any of our designs. What you see is what you get, every time and all the time.
Can you make a custom design using my own button? Yes! We fully understand the emotional pull and sentimentality evoked by buttons from years past. Please contact us to discuss a custom design using a button you provide that has special meaning to you.
Are all of your pieces handmade? Yes. Every piece is handmade in the same New Jersey studio where Donna conceptualized the very first necklace that started it all.
How do I care for my veryDonna jewelry? Most of these buttons have been around for generations, so they don’t require much care. The following guidelines will help ensure that your handcrafted jewelry maintains its beauty for a lifetime. Should you have specific questions about how to care for your piece, please feel free to contact us.
- Wipe your jewelry gently with a soft cloth to remove any dust as needed.
- To bring up the luster in mother-of-pearl buttons, wipe ‘sparingly’ with a dab of olive oil on a cotton swab.
- To brighten Metal Buttons, gently wipe with a jewelry polishing cloth. Avoid using any type of jewelry cleaner solutions, dips or creams.
- Bakelite and Celluloids may be wiped gently with a damp cloth.
As with ANY jewelry you own, to maintain the integrity of the piece, please apply any lotions, perfumes or hairspray before you put on your jewelry. Air and skin contact will naturally ‘patina’ your metal chains over time. This characteristic contributes to the beauty and uniqueness of each piece and does not indicate a product defect.
